“Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness for forty days to be tempted by the devil. We often think that when we’re “led by the spirit,” it will always be “beside still waters,” as David wrote in Psalm 23. Not always. In this case, God, the Holy Spirit, led Him into the wilderness to be tempted. This event was foundational for Jesus. He must face down the enemy and come out victorious. Many centuries earlier, the same devil seduced Adam and Eve to sin against God. Adam lost that battle. Now, Jesus came to redeem mankind from that sin and win the battle as the “second Adam.” (Romans 5:15-21).”

This isn’t an easy thing to do, but in order to heal and become a strong man of grit, you must face your wound, dispel the lies it has told you, and heal the wound from the inside out. “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3)
